The project involves the establishment of a manganese mining operation on a 320-hectare prospecting right area in the Limpopo Province. Preliminary geological surveys have identified three target zones with estimated manganese ore grades between 30-42%. The area falls within the Kalahari Manganese Field extension zone, which hosts some of the world's richest manganese deposits.
The project requires approximately R45 million to move from prospecting to mining right application and initial mine development. This includes detailed feasibility study (R8M), mining right application and environmental management plan (R5M), mine infrastructure and access roads (R15M), and initial mining equipment (R17M).
Global manganese demand is projected to grow by 8-10% annually through 2030, driven by battery technology (NMC cathodes) and steel production. South Africa holds approximately 80% of the world's known manganese reserves. Current manganese ore prices range from $4.50-$6.00 per dmtu (dry metric ton unit), making even lower-grade deposits economically viable. The Limpopo Province is actively encouraging mining development with streamlined permitting processes.
Structured through Limpopo Manganese (Pty) Ltd. Current ownership: Piet van der Merwe (70%), BEE Partner — Limpopo Community Mining Trust (30%). Mining right will be held by the SPV with provision for investor equity participation.

The prospecting area has been divided into three target zones based on geophysical survey results. Zone A (120ha) shows the highest potential with surface outcrops of manganese-bearing rock. Zone B (100ha) requires deeper drilling to confirm ore body continuity. Zone C (100ha) is a lower-priority exploration target. A total of 15 boreholes have been drilled to depths of 30-80 meters, with assay results confirming manganese presence in 12 of 15 holes. The project has secured access agreements with two adjacent farm owners for road and infrastructure corridors.
